** Hello there, ------------------------------------------------------------ Welcome to CHRISSYTOPIA TIMES!! At the beginning of the year I had decided to pick a couple of long weekends for my husband Chris and I to enjoy during the summer. I had also blocked off a couple of random days for myself, as well as some others for friends. I am happy to have made that move, as between teaching lessons and booking gigs, I have scheduled just about every day surrounding those days off. I had a feeling that once I started putting a bit more effort into my moves, that things would start picking up. It worked!! Yes, some days are pretty overwhelming, but even after a weeks worth of lessons with energetic kids on their summer break, mixed with playing phone tag with club owners to book gigs, combined with studio sessions and back-to- back performances, I really wouldn't rather do anything else. And as much as things are pleasantly full now, I have a feeling that this is just the beginning. As I'm preparing for my first solo EP release in November, plan on new videos, podcast interviews, merch, and more... Thank YOU for reading, following, liking, and all the rest. I truly appreciate it. I hope you keep doin what you love and find a way do it everyday. Movin on up, ** ------------------------------------------------------------ P. S. KAFTAN & KIMONO PARTY THIS FRIDAY!!! I'm singing songs from the 70's and 80's, celebrating the worlds most versatile clothing available (any age, sex, race, religion, weather, time), introducing my fellow female vocalists on the rise (Maya Gangadharan & Heather Mac), raising money for Alternatives for Girls, and featuring my feminine favs Girl On Top Shop (personalized necklaces) and Rouge MakeUp & Nail Studio (organic beauty). EVENT INVITE: https://www.facebook.com/events/2315786638694831/?hc_location=ufi For years I have gone to Rouge MakeUp & Nail Studio before glammin it up at The Detroit Music Awards. So thrilled to have them offer door prizes. Can't wait for my pedicure this Wednesday. http://www.rougemakeupandnails.com/ It's always a good thing to give back to the community and I couldn't think of a better match for this event than Alternatives For Girls. Their mission is to help homeless and high-risk girls and young women avoid violence, teen pregnancy and exploitation. We're raising funds this Friday as well as taking donations from their wish list. You don't have to be at the event to check out their website. Maybe consider making a small donation yourself. https://alternativesforgirls.org/ My dear friend ( and fellow Algebra Mother band member) Karen, kindly gave me the pink "I will survive" necklace. Even when I don't wear it, I see it hanging and repeat the mantra. Can't wait to see what designs she brings to Ghost Light this Friday. https://www.facebook.com/GirlOnTopShop/?tn-str=k*F Yes this summer it's all about the Kaftans & Kimonos, but it's also about the resurgence of the punk band, The Algebra Mothers. Lucky me, joined the band right before they got signed to Jack White's label, Third Man Records. And to add to my 15 minutes of fame, my picture (taken by my husband, Christopher Morgan) was featured on the NPR website!! Being a card carrying member, this is pretty amazing. Though I wasn't in the band while it was first formed (I was still in gradeschool.), I'm helping to support the album. Rumor has it that the A-MOMs are recording new material. You'll be sure to hear my voice then :) https://www.npr.org/2019/06/02/729102751/algebra-mothers Are you curious about what The Algebra Mothers sound like live?? Come on out next Saturday.
