** Hello There!!!

There are some weekends where my husband Chris and I wonder what the hell happened to our house in such a short amount of time. In this household we call it the "
CHRISSY HURRICANE".
Between moving gear and changing outfits (fig. vs. lit.), it's a wonder how I keep it all together. Some may imply that "you're always doing so much", and yet despite the upcoming hurricane expected after this fun-filled weekend, I'm looking forward to it. You see, gulp, I joined another project...even after I told myself, before the new year of 2017, that I was to not take on anything else so that I could focus on what I had.
What do I have?
The Chrissy Morgan Trio - jazz standards and timeless classics
Bricktown Station - original rockfunksouldivalternative jam band
Bruce & Chrissy - wine pub and brewery acoustic duo
Joe Jaber & The Last Divide - Ryan Adams with Joe Cocker's backup vocalists
Scott Morgan - 60's blue eyed soul with a killer backup band
And then a tall bass player had presented to me an offer I couldn't quite refuse... funny how the universe works that way.... hmmm
Anywho... the idea was to have Gerald (with whom I'd already performed with at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Hall as a Backup Vocalist for The Don Was Review) doin what Gerald does on guitar...
Jamie (with whom I toured with The Sights to the SXSW music fest AND introduced me to the much beloved board game, Ticket To Ride) doin what Jamie does on drums...
and John "Bissa" ( with whom I had joined as a backup vocal with his band Six and The Seven's for the DETXDET music fest) doin what Bissa does on bass...
Oh yah, and I would be the lead vocalist ... One of the first things I remember asking Bissa was if the other 2 had already agreed to this idea...WHOA.
Fast forward to the year 2017...
Starting a new band is always kinda weird. Getting to know personalities, writing styles, ..just all of it. And then it kinda works or kinda doesn't and you either push on till you find what works better or you don't... and on top of all that band blending stuff ...I'm going through chemo ... and we're figuring out a band name....and surgeries... and trying to schedule band practice..and....bizarre to say the least, but this band kept on chugging.. and then things were working ..well ... very well.
So we booked a gig. A big one. This Saturday! The Hamtramck Music Fest!
I am so freaking excited to front this band at one of my fav metro Detroit music festivals... (It's actually going on right now as I type this)..... and I'm not sure you'll make it to our premier performance, but we're sure to book more in the future.
So... take on another project, spend my weekend watching 162 bands at 21 venues in 3 nights and sleeping in on Sunday just to wake up to another Chrissy Hurricane..Sure!

Here a blast from the past...March 2015. A vid of 12 musicians rockin it out! The band 6 & The 7's performed the DETXDET show where Detroit musicians honor the work of prior Detroit musicians. What a fun peformance to be invited to join!! Here we are performing "25 Miles" by Edwin Starr.
